With high speed broadband becoming more ubiquitous in Australia, particularly with the rollout of the National Broadband Network and with the proliferation of mobile devices, a range of practical solutions exist that allow you to conduct your business whenever and wherever you want, possibly for reduced costs. Learn about the benefits of digital productivity including the ability to:
- communicate conveniently and instantly using email and instant messaging

- improve productivity and work-life balance through teleworking for you or your staff
- increase your customer or donor satisfaction with online support services for your customers, supporters or donors
- manage your information and resources better while improving customer service by using customer relationship management and enterprise resource planning software
- reduce up-front costs and maintenance issues by considering using software as a service
- reach new markets and allow your customers, supporters and donors to transact 24/7 to a global audience through e-commerce
Lean and clean companies boost productivity by eliminating inefficiency, streamlining production, improving the workplace environment, and increasing wages. Lean and clean companies become supremely competitive. The environmentally proactive companies had higher return on investment, higher sales growth, and higher operating income.
inefficiency are high inventories, defects, and customer complaints. In clean production, the measure of inefficiency is pollution - air pollution, water pollution, and solid waste. If a
company has successfully reduced waste and implmented lean, lean and clean management is the next step in the ongoing process of increasing profits and productivity.
Henry Ford was obsessed with minimizing wast of resource and time, His 1926 book Today and Tomorrow, reviews his many approaches to reducing waste.
What is Industrial Engineering?
Industrial engineers deal with systems. They can design, implement or improve integrated systems comprised of people, materials, information or energy. IE's can develop a better way of doing just about anything.
Industrial engineers find creative new ways to solve tough problems. From microelectronics, telecommunications, and retail to transportation, hospitals, and government, IE's make it happen more efficiently.
Industrial engineers get jobs as production engineers, supply chain managers, operations analysts, quality engineers and information system specialists. They work for any business, company, governmental agency, or service oriented enterprise that wants improved operations and reduced costs.
Many IE's start their own companies or go into consulting.

"Scientific management: 100 years old; Poised for the next century" was published in SAM Advanced Management Journal / Spring Issue, 1996. Michael Freeman is the author.
According to Taylor, scientific management's birthplace is his paper "A Piece-Rate System," read by him in 1895. It being a step toward partial solution of the labor problem, Taylor fixed age of scientific management as 17 years in 1912.
But Taylor's definitive work, The Principles of Scientific Management was first published in 1911. Hence in 2011, scientific management completes its 100 years and 1910-11 is the centenary year of scientific management.
