Reports to the head of Industrial Engineering as a team leader working with and managing up to 4 subordinate industrial engineers. Responsible for the team to make and execute operations bulletins with the help of craftsmen with domain knowledge but no understanding of industrial engineering. Also responsible to analyse plan versus achievement and undertake Kaizen activities to create continuous improvement on the shop floors. Will be given charge for one factory with 8 to 12 lines and will continuously move between production planning and execution.

Desired Skills & Experience

You must have at least a Bachelor's Degree or acceptable diploma in Industrial Engineering from a recognised institution with good grades. In addtion, you must have between two to five years of experience in applying industrial engineering to manufacturing. This may be in apparel, leather goods or any other some what related area. We will also consider candidates with hard core experience in unrelated manufacturing environments as we believe there are strong common threads. It's Time to Rethink Continuous Improvement - HBR Blog Post by Ron Ashkenas



Ron Ashkenas is a managing partner of Schaffer Consulting and a co-author of The GE Work-Out (It is a six sigma related initiative) and The Boundaryless Organization. His latest book is Simply Effective.



Innovation thinker Vijay Govindarajan says, "The more you hardwire a company on total quality management, [the more] it is going to hurt breakthrough innovation. The mindset that is needed, the capabilities that are needed, the metrics that are needed, the whole culture that is needed for discontinuous innovation, are fundamentally different."


The author concludes:

Continuous improvement doesn't have to be incompatible with disruptive innovation. 



But unless we think about continuous improvement in more subtle, nuanced, and creative ways, we may force companies to choose between the two.

Productivity Improvement: 850% Increase in Machining Time - Sewtec Automation


Sewtec automation had 6 CNC machines and got 140 hours of machining time from them. Lot of time was spent in set ups.

They shifted to HAAS Vertical machining centres with HAAs WIPS system Now there are 11 machines and they are getting 1180 hours of machining time.

While machines increased only by 80%, machining time increased by 850%.
