Industrial Engineering of Systems - System Industrial Engineering.

Industrial engineers work on functional designs created by various engineers and managers and make them more efficient by improving resource use efficiency. Industrial engineers are to be associated with systems design or engineering process to make systems more efficient right from the first design stage. Presentation at a Global Conference on the topic (made in 2010 in Tokyo)

The New Industrial and Integrated Systems Engineering: Expanding our Footprint and Impact

Details

Join Jared Frederici and me as we continue to explore the "New Industrial and Integrated Systems Engineering".  As some of you know, IISE has launched a new Community focused on Engineering Employee and Team Performance Excellence.  An article on this topic will be, has been published in the ISE magazine (1 April 2025).  It's very easy for ISE to get insulated, functionally stove-piped and have a less than optimal domain of influence.

ISE's ability to partner with all sub-system components is important for Systems Thinking and Integrated Systems Engineering to have optimal enterprise impact.  We'll explore strategies (good strategies) for positioning ISE in a way that optimizes the footprint and impact.

The main components of ISE knowledge that reflect a categorisation of pertinent industrial and systems engineering theories and models include (1) work design & measurement, (2) operations research & analysis, (3) engineering economic analysis, (4) facilities engineering & energy management, (5) quality & reliability engineering, (6) ergonomics & human factors, (7) operations engineering & management, (8) supply chain management, (9) engineering management, (10) safety, (11) information engineering, (12) design and manufacturing engineering, (13) product design & development, and 14) system design & engineering.

Systesm Design & Engineering is a main component.

INTEGRATED SYSTEMS ENGINEERING: THOUGHT LEADER PERSPECTIVES AND POINTS OF VIEW
Presenters: Tiffany Sargent, Chief Technologist and Senior Principal Engineer, Intel; Ben Amaba, Global Chief Technology Officer, IBM

Tiffany Sargent, Chief Technologist and Senior Principal Engineer, Intel; and Ben Amaba, Global Chief Technology Officer, IBM will join us to share their perspectives and points of view on how ISE is rapidly evolving to become Integrated Systems Engineering. We’ll define this for you. We’ll discuss what’s happening in this evolving field. And Tiffany and Ben will tell you how you can join our “affinity group” in IISE that is focused on sharing and learning with one another relative to Integrated Systems Engineering.
