Once commercial products starts and productivity audit confirms that planned productivity is achieved, industrial engineering department starts its routine productivity management of the new technology project.

Productivity improvement effort has two major branches. Continuous and Periodic Improvement efforts. In continuous improvement task, there is a system in place to encourage and collect productivity improvement ideas of all operators, supervisors, engineers and managers. The front line people have to be empowered to do trails of their ideas, if they do not involve any special investments. If investment is involved, there has to a fund to provide the necessary funds and things. Work simplification workshops also now known as Kaizen events or Productivity Action Teams have to conducted to facilitate group learning and brain storming.

Periodic improvement is done through projects initiated by IE department as process studies or method studies to identify opportunities for productivity improvement periodically.
