Graduate Programs

Lamar IE is dedicated to student success. Lamar has relatively low tuition costs, low cost of living, small class sizes, near many industrial employers in Beaumont and Houston, and tight connections between faculty and students. The department has several research labs to support graduate students.

Our faculty teach and research a wide-range of topics:

Manufacturing and Automation
Software tools including CAD/CAM, R, Matlab, SQL, Simio simulation software under a grant from Simio LLC, and Python
Data Mining, Optimization, Statistics, Quality Control, and Reliability
Project Management, Engineering Management, and Supply Chain Management
Safety, Human Factors, and Ergonomics
SAP and Primavera taught by Lamar University College of Business

Qualified graduate students (based on transcripts, GRE and TOEFL/IELTS) will be offered an out-of-state tuition waiver plus a $1,000/year general graduate scholarship. With this scholarship, the student only needs to pay in-state tuition, which is significantly lower than the full tuition. Highly qualified doctoral students are offered assistantships or fellowships with tuition waivers.

Lamar University College of Engineering offers the following graduate degree programs with a focus on Industrial Engineering:

Master of Engineering (Non-Thesis)
Master of Engineering Science (Thesis)
Doctor of Engineering
Master of Engineering Management (M.E.M)
Master of Science in Port and Terminal Management (MPTM)
