INTRODUCTION TO THE PROGRAM
Industrial engineering is continuous Improvement of engineering products and processes for increasing productivity and reducing costs. There are companies that effectively used industrial engineering principles, methods and techniques to get cost reduction of 5% year on year for many years. Toyota Motors used industrial engineering effectively with its special focus on inventory reduction to increase productivity to a Level, double that of US based companies and captured world market for automobiles. This program aims to present the potential of industrial engineering in important areas of engineering operations and would initiate the participants in the recent developments in industrial engineering principles, functions and focus areas that would help in developing the knowledge base required to do value-adding industrial engineering in organizations.
