Teacher is as important as parents. Indian wisdom. All three are God's on earth to every human being. Students are teacher's children. In the modern society, there is anomie. Disconnect. But still Indian tradition tries to maintain the relation. Indians are prompted to remember  parents as well as  teachers till they are alive. Authors of books, essays and articles and poetry also are teachers only in the society.

In 1880, ASME was started. In its first meeting the president of the society gave the call for engineers to pay attention to reduce the cost of production of engineering goods as well as other goods made using engineering equipment. The seed for industrial engineering was planted.

1885. F.W. Taylor joined ASME.

1886. Henri Towne presented the paper, "The Engineer as an Economist."

1893. Taylor presented paper on redesign of belt transmission systems to reduce cost.

1895. Taylor presented his productivity improvement system.

1901. James Gunn mentioned the word "industrial" as a branch in engineering.

1903. Taylor presented "Shop Management."

1905. Henri Towne spoke on Industrial Engineer.

1908. Industrial engineering course was started in Penn State College.

2013. The area "Supply Chain Industrial Engineering" was explained in a IIIE-NIT Surat Seminar by Narayana Rao K.V.S.S.

2017 Principles of Industrial Engineering were presented the 2017 IISE Annual Conference.
