Over time, blades can experience what the aviation industry terms as “spallation,” in which materials begin to erode from the part. This is more prevalent in places like the Middle East, in which planes encounter sandy conditions. Digital Twins better predict how a blade will degrade over time, so that customers are informed on the right time to bring it in for maintenance before a problem occurs."

The digital twin capabilities of an IoT platform depend on its design and implementation. The digital twin framework can be implemented in two ways:
Simple device models: In this method, you create and use a JSON (https://knols-cse.blogspot.com/2021/05/about-json.html) document that stores the following information about a machine:
Name, serial number, and location
A set of observed attributes that the machine's sensors observe (for example, the current speed of the machine)
A set of desired attributes that the IoT application can set (for example, the desired speed of the machine)
In this method, you use the attributes of the machines that its sensors capture. This method works best in situations where the sensors may not be continually available, or when communication with the sensors takes place asynchronously.
Industrial twins: In this method, information about the design of a machine is first stored as the digital twin. The information represents the physics-based properties of the machine. The information is obtained from product lifecycle management (PLM) tools. In this type of implementation, you can represent the physical attributes and design information of the machine. The real-time data of a machine is further obtained through sensors.
