Industrial engineers have to study material transformation operations in detail as part of their process improvement studies. To do industrial engineering of production operations of specific parts and assemblies, industrial engineers have to first study basic production processes and develop productivity science and productivity engineering of the basic production processes like casting, welding and machining.
