Productivity science and engineering are two core knowledge areas. Industrial engineers have to identify various measurable characteristics or attributes of the technology and find their effect on productivity of the technology. The productivity science of the technology thus obtained will give opportunities for productivity engineering to maximize the productivity or improve the productivity.
