About Industrial Engineering
Industrial engineering is system efficiency engineering. It starts after an engineering system is designed and declared as effective. Industrial engineering is applied on systems at the design stage and also when the system is in operation. Industrial engineering evaluates the productivity of resources used in every element of the engineering systems. Its knowledge base consists of most productive way of designing engineering elements and combining them into higher order parts, assemblies, products and systems. Industrial engineering is based on productivity science. Its main engineering component is productivity engineering. Industrial engineering has management component, that is productivity management.
Industrial engineering is primarily engineering. It involves modifying engineering components and their features to increase productivity of engineering products and processes. We can identify product industrial engineering and process industrial engineering as two very important focus areas of IE.
