DESCRIPTION
The Technology Deployment and Strategic Sourcing team provides the bridge between Product Development and Operations, implementing end-to-end fulfillment and transportation solutions that integrate internally developed automation with Material Handling Equipment (MHE), and provides the assurance that supplier capacity is never on the critical path to delivery of projects required to exceed customer delivery expectations and drive Amazon growth. These solutions require continuous engineering development, emerging and disruptive technology innovations and long-term supplier partnerships.


Amazon is seeking an experienced professional as a leader in our global MHE value program as a Supply Chain Value Engineering Manager. This individual contributor position will lead our program to plan and coordinate value engineering solutions with procurement, design, engineering, and operational partners. The person will establish and maintain liaison between internal and strategic supplier teams to formulate and apply solutions that increase the value of our MHE systems and optimize integration with internally developed robotics and automation technology. The Supply Chain Value Engineering Manager will identify, explore, evaluate, justify and realize solutions that add value by reducing schedule durations, improving output / throughput rates / capacity / system utilization, and removing waste from the entire MHE value stream and supply chain as it applies to materials, parts, equipment, and labor. They will find business solutions through advanced technologies, alternative designs, process innovation and execution strategies. This role contributes to increase MHE value provided to the various operations and eventually our customers by implementing the Cost and Value Engineering levers (Cost Analysis & Optimization, Design to Value, Modularization & Standardization, Supplier Productivity Improvements, and Target Pricing/Target Costing).

This role includes the following responsibilities:
· Engage with internal partners (Design, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain) to 1) perform cost analysis and optimization, design-to-cost for MHE designs, to achieve tangible business impact, and 2) perform optimization gap analysis and lead projects to implement solutions.
· Integrate ideas from partners and market intelligence to develop value add solutions through application of unique design and new technology solutions.
· Challenge suppliers and internal teams to find and evaluate disruptive change in addition to evolutionary change.
· Perform detailed bottoms-up cost calculations to identify cost drivers and drive detailed cost evaluations of value projects. Develop action plans to reduce product costs accordingly.
· Develop pipeline of Value Engineering projects, with highest potential selected for implementation with appropriate cross-functional resources.
· Provide coaching, technical, and project management for VE project teams, facilitating removal of barriers to implementation. Track and report weekly progress, report monthly and quarterly on results and support needed for successful implementation.
· Innovate and improve existing processes to streamline and eliminate waste while enabling growth and scale.
· Drive suppliers’ continuous improvement and development program in support of quality, delivery and cost performance metrics.
· Develop supplier and internal metrics, focusing on performance results and trade-offs. Drive improvement and corrective measures across functions.
· Leverage experience with industrial engineering concepts and tools to diagnose Amazon processes, identify improvement opportunities, prescribe improvement strategies and guide the improvement effort.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations or related discipline
· 5+ years of successful leadership experience in project initiation, cross functional team management, facilitation of cross-functional teams, and results delivery, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
· Significant Experience with Lean/Six Sigma or equivalent and application of value stream mapping processes.
· Strong process orientation with experience in process development and value stream mapping
· Strong analytical skills including the ability to distill, synthesize, and draw conclusions on large amounts of data. Ability to use hard data and metrics to develop recommendations
· Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work well with ambiguity.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
· High attention to detail including proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
· Position requires 20-50% travel requirement; this can include international travel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Advanced degree preferred in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related discipline
· Lean/Six Sigma green or black belt certification or equivalent
· Project management certification
· 8+ years of experience developing mechanisms to improve operational excellence
· Experience working in a global team environment with multiple time zones
