Management Education for Industrial Engineers

Industrial engineering education programs need to have management modules.

Industrial engineers have to know how to manage their studies in cooperation and collaboration with other engineers, managers and operators.

Industrial engineers have to train supervisors and operators in more productive methods. They have to act as supervisors when the operators are using new methods.

Industrial engineers have to manage their IE studies as projects when their scope is big.

Industrial engineers redesign facilities. They have to manage projects that are undertaken to implement their redesigns.

Industrial engineers have to evaluate management policies proposed by various managers for their productivity impacts and have to make suggestions to modify them if needed.

Industrial engineers require all the management skills related to planning, organizing, resourcing, directing, and controlling and their education content must include discussion on application of these skills in managing IE activities.
