Mr. Antlitz is an industrial engineer by training. He joined Volkswagen in 2004. He was involved for years in overseeing the controlling and accounting departments for its Volkswagen brand. Abstract
We examine the effect of plant managers on productivity.  Panel data on U.S. auto-assembly plants during 1993–2007. Variation in productivity due to managerial influence. We estimate the interquartile range of the effect of individual plant managers on average hours-per-vehicle to be about 30%.  We also observe evidence that managers’ plant-specific tenure has a positive impact on productivity.

(Kallas, it has been reported, is no longer employed by Tesla, but holds a prominent position designing tooling for an automotive high-pressure diecasting business.)

 Ford Motor Co. is cutting an additional $11.5 billion from spending plans, curtailing further development and production of several sedans, including the Fusion and Taurus. The automaker is almost doubling a cost-cutting goal to $25.5 billion by 2022.
