Chair at Department of Systems Science and Industrial Engineering, Binghamton University Chair at Department of Systems Science and Industrial Engineering, Binghamton University

20.8.2024

I am thrilled and humbled to announce that Systems Science & Industrial Engineering (SSIE) at Binghamton University has been elevated from 'department' to 'school' effective September 1, 2024. This upgrade reflects exceptional growth in faculty size, research funding, student enrollment, and overall academic excellence over the past decade. This academic year, SSIE will be home to 37 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, ~400 graduate students, and ~200 undergraduate students.

Recently, U.S. News & World Report ranked us #26 ISE graduate program in the U.S. among public schools. According to the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) database, we are now the second-largest program in the nation by faculty size. The new SSIE School is home to five SUNY distinguished professors, three Empire Innovation Professors (EIP), and Watson College’s only named professorship.

I would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly congratulate our faculty, staff, and students whose limitless dedication and unparalleled hard work were the catalysts for our transformation into a school. This is truly a testament to our diverse team's relentless commitment to academic excellence. So proud of our amazing team and grateful to our supporters! The best is truly yet to come for the School of Systems Science & Industrial Engineering at Binghamton University!
