I am teaching engineering economics for the first time this fall. I am interested in case studies, examples, and spreadsheets, especially in cybersecurity, AI, and emerging technologies. If you have materials to share, I am interested!
My comment.
Very nice that you raised the issue. I want to tell all manufacturers and marketers. Provide an illustration of economic benefit for the items you are selling. At your list price provide a situation where it is economically beneficial. Then users understand how to do engineering economic analysis of their situation. Please ask you students to do projects collecting the current costs or prices of engineering items and the expected benefits from them. Then do the IE-EE analysis.
I tried to make some notes.
